

She said, He saidShe dove into the water and was immediately enveloped by the silence. There was no noise against her ear drums, just a pleasant pressure. The water was clear blue in the sunlight, enabling her to see to the bottom of the pool. There was almost a tropical feel to the scene because of the heat and the clarity. Any pollution had long ago rinsed itself clean of this idyllic place. Near the bottom something sparkled in the sun. She kicked downwards at a lazy pace, it was only twenty feet and she was an excellent swimmer. She reached the bottom rocks and felt around; in her hand she held a small silver sphere. Mira woke up in a cold sweat, the demon Nightmare fleeing into the darkness. She sat up on her cot and turned on the lantern. The hallow-eyed ghosts from dream vanished in the light, and Mira rubbed her eyes. A weary sigh escaped her lips; seven years and she was still plagued by the death of a city. It was a heavy weight to bear on her narrow shoulders. She pulled a sweater on and prepared to try to sleep again. Then she heard a movement outside of her tent and a clearing of the throat. Someone was asking permission to enter her tent. She sighed, who was irritating her at this time of night. &n
